Join us to honor the legacy of our revered John G. Levy by making a non-profit donation to The Children's Foundation 501c3 for the naming and enhancement of The Children’s Hospital of Michigan Main Lobby and an endowment toward The Child Life Services Annual Program – an annual program that John was passionate about supporting year over year.

This project brings together the most important parts of John G. Levy’s legacy: bringing the healing magic and joy of art, music, movies and interactive play together with the hospital where he has lovingly served on the board of directors for many decades.

This project has a goal of $ 250,000 to transform Children's Hospital of Michigan Lobby into a center of inspiration, joy and curiosity and to continue to support some of the most essential programs that keep the kids happy and on the path to healing.

For a child, the joy of invoking imagination is often the most memorable and therapeutic experience.

When kids are admitted to the hospital, it often means their condition is very serious.

Kids are often scared, in severe pain, processing big emotions and feeling isolated from family, friends and their favorite activities. Research shows that kids use their imagination as a coping mechanism; when kids engage in activities expressive to them, they start to feel better. And a positive outlook and good mood are key to healing!

Children's Hospital of Michigan Child life Services Program is one of the most essential programs to keep the kids smiling and shining and using their imaginations. Because children process information much differently than adults, they have distinct needs for managing the effects of stress and trauma. Without the assistance of professionals who understand their unique perspective, children of all ages may experience emotions such as fear, shame, confusion, and loneliness, which have lasting negative effects on their wellbeing.

Certified Child Life Specialists are educated and clinically trained in the developmental impact of illness and injury. Their role helps improve patient and family care, satisfaction, and overall experience.

Child Life Services include many different specialties that can positively impact a hospitalized child, regardless of the reason for their stay. Your gift will generously support...

  • Art Therapy
  • Music Therapy Facility Dog
  • Pet Therapy
  • Yoga Therapy
  • Build Up STEAM Technology Specialist School Teacher
  • and many more!
